Once you have decided on a search engine optimization partner and plotted out your SEO action plan, the day-to-day activities are pretty simple and straightforward. At the same time, they are far from being easy. New clients sometimes struggle with this idea, and understandably so: if there isn’t anything “hard” to do, what makes the whole thing so difficult?
To answer that question, we’d like you to think of search engine optimization a little bit like you would your morning run.
Staying upright, and putting one foot in front of the other, isn’t a challenging task for most people. And yet, when trying to lose weight or get in shape, finding the time and motivation to go and run a few laps can feel tantamount to climbing Mount Everest. So, while the simple act of running isn’t all that tough, setting your alarm clock and finding the drive to put on your sneakers before work certainly can be.
It’s the same way with search engine optimization. Jotting down half a page of writing to fill out an article or blog post isn’t going to cost you a lot in terms of creativity or mental energy. Making it a regular routine you can stick to, however, is significantly harder – especially when there are lots of other tasks and distractions vying for your attention. Besides, working on your search engine optimization plan is also like running and that, while it takes effort every day, it’s only over time that you begin to see the benefits. You don’t get to be slim overnight, and neither do you jump to one of the top spots on Google simply because you optimized a single landing page for a few keywords.
Search engine optimization isn’t hard, but it isn’t easy, either. Stay motivated by reminding yourself that staying in good online marketing shape is a great long-term goal. Then, be sure to lace up your shoes, metaphorically speaking, for a few minutes each day and let your content run wild.
